Grooming is an essential part of canine husbandry. Many dogs are extremely fearful of grooming. This can happen due to lack of training, genetics, bad experiences, etc. Since I train and groom dogs, this gives me a unique opportunity to offer grooming training. This package will work on desensitizing your dog to tolerate the entire grooming process and using positive reinforcement to build a better mindset towards grooming.
If you have completed any board & train package, you have the option to add additional weeks at a discounted price at any time as a refresher week! You can add as many weeks as you would like!

Because the best interest of the dogs is my first priority! I don't want to rush your dog through 2 weeks of advanced training! The 3-week package gives us time to train your dog before even introducing the e-collar, then we can gradually teach them what low stim from the e-collar means and how to respond to it, which will lead to a happy, trained dog both on and off-leash! This also gives your dog a bit more time to bond with me and settle into the new place, which means we can get more of the advanced training in than during a 2-week training package! My behavior mod packages are 4-6 weeks because that gives us time to bond, train under low stimulating distractions, then gradually work on changing your dog's mindset without pushing past their thresholds. It takes time to help a fearful, reactive, anxious, or aggressive dog, and trying to change the mindset of your dog takes a lot of work and patience!
There are so many horror stories about sending dog's off to training, so we understand if you are hesitant about sending your beloved family member to a trainer! First, we will schedule a brief phone call to discuss your dog and your goals. Then, if you decide to proceed, you will complete our training intake form/waiver. Meet and greets prior to training are optional UNLESS it is an aggression case. Once you send your deposit, we can schedule your board and train. The remaining balance must be paid prior to your board and train drop off date. During the board and train, your dog will live in my home. You will receive nightly video and photo updates, along with information on what we worked on and how your dog did. Your dog will also be weighed the day they arrive, and once a week from that point on to ensure that they are not losing too much weight if they become finicky about eating in the new environment or drop weight with all of the exercise they get during training! If we notice anything unusual with your pup, we let you know immediately. Your dog's safety and well-being are our number one priority! At the end of the board and train, we will show you how to work with your dog to continue their training at home. At that point, your dog will understand everything included in the training packages, and it's up to you to keep up with their training upon completion! If you need help at any point after your dog goes home, we are available and happy to help you!
We use balanced training methods, meaning we use all quadrants of dog training! In other words, this means we utilize a combination of rewards and fair corrections (punishment) in our training. This gives our dogs boundaries, shows our dog's what leads to good things for them, and makes our relationship with our dogs stronger! We do utilize training tools such as an e-collar and prong collar, when necessary, in a safe and humane manner, and we educate owners on how to safely and effectively use the tools as well!
Crate training is a great way to keep your dog safe when you aren't there to supervise them and is super useful for potty training as dog's typically avoid soiling where they rest. Dogs can not only become destructive or partake in unwanted behaviors when left to their own devices, but they can also do things that jeopardize their safety. Some dogs may eat things that could give them an upset tummy, but many dogs will consume objects that could lead to an impaction. This leads to a surgery, if you're lucky enough to catch it in time! Crates are also a calm and safe place where your dog will feel secure if introduced properly. Even if your dog is well behaved without the crate in your home, if they go to the groomer, veterinarian, or boarding, they will be in crates or kennels. If they are not crate trained, this could be very stressful for them, so even if you don't plan on utilizing it at home, it is a very kind thing to teach your dog how to relax in a crate or kennel! Start small with the door open and reward your dog for going into the crate with something they like (example: a treat) and gradually work your way up!
Dogs that experience anxiety in general are more likely to become anxious when alone, but separation anxiety can be created by us also! There are things you can do to help! Teaching your dog how to be alone for short periods of time initially and working your way up is a great start! Proper crate training will teach your dog how to relax when he/she is alone! When you come home, try to wait for your dog to relax before engaging with him/her! It's so cute when our dogs are happy to see us, but sometimes, when you are super exciting as you walk in the door, this can cause your dog to be more anxious as they wait for you to come home! As you leave the house, try to ensure your dog is exercised and has something to occupy themselves with while you're gone, whether it's a chew, a stuffed Kong (freezing can help the Kong stuffing last a bit longer), or even a puzzle for your dog!
